We have had so much fun the past month since our last update, I don’t even know where to begin. I guess I will start off with our Strong Girls camp that we had in June. It was for rising 4th-8th graders and it was hosted at Athens Academy. Our room was lovely and the girls were so much fun. We covered friendship, trust, community service, gratitude, self-care, and letting go of perfection. Of course, we learned other lessons along the way such as how different personalities can come together and work in harmony. That in itself is a really wonderful life lesson. I think one of my favorite things that we did that week was our community service. It was so simple. We went around the campus, gathered rocks of various sizes, decorated them with uplifting/inspiring mantras, and then spread them back out around the campus. The thought that someone might be having a bad day, look down, and see a rock that says, “Stay Strong” or “You’re beautiful”, is really what it is all about – lifting each other up. We have 2 more weeks coming up for camp in July!
I also wanted to mention that the official Strong Girls website is LIVE! WOO! Visit wearestronggirls.com to check it out!
For Yoga Sprouts, we have continued to do various classes throughout Athens, having SO MUCH FUN as we go. It’s inspiring to watch how yoga harnesses their energy and teaches them at the same time. Jazmin and I get to teach our OWN yoga sprouts class in July, too! So, a lot of our time has been spent studying or with Rachel while she trains us on how the classes go, different ideas, and how to handle misbehavior. I am incredibly excited and grateful that Rachel has given Jazmin and I the opportunity to work and teach together. Having another intern by my side has really helped this summer.
Although the balance of time between internship, work, moving out, and various other things going on this summer has been difficult, I fully believe I chose the best agency to work for this summer in Athens. It has been nothing but fun, laughter, and learning together. I will update again before my internship is over.
Remember to always love each other, support each other, and be kind to everyone!
Namaste, my friends!
